Old Boots left this review about The New Inn
Hotel, restaurant and bar on the main road into Nidderdale, the bar is a friendly pub like place. Situated in one corner of the building and entered through the front porch, the bar is an L shaped room with the bar counter to your right, ahead is a dining area and to the left a seating area decorated in front room style. To the right through a windowed stub wall is another seating area with low tables and sofas, this leads to the formal Old Coach restaurant and probably doubles as a space to wait for your table. On its low table is an eclectic selection of magazines ranging from Private Eye to Woman by way of shooting mag's and the Tatler. Both bar rooms have open fires and are decorated with whisky jugs, pump clips on the plate rack and a range of brassware and books, etc elsewhere. One part is carpeted and the other has bare boards, the bar counter is faced with rough hewn clap board planks, there is some nice woodwork above the bar and some ceiling beams hosting more brassware. In front of the bar is a line of bar stools and in the corner a chair labelled for the resident ghost. Three handpumps serve Tetley Cask, Theakstons Best and excellent Rudgate Viking, kegs from Tuborg, Carlsberg, Strongbow, Guinness and Theakstons Mild, as there is a restaurant there is a well thought out, small but wide ranging wine list. The pleasant atmosphere is a little like the better class of country pubs often seen in old British films.
