Steve of N21 left this review about O'Briens

This was the nearest pub to our hotel whilst in town and in the cause of research I popped in once to try it out. Actually it’s a lot smarter inside than I was expecting with a modern light oak bar front and half wood panelling throughout, pine wood floor by the bar and then carpeted seating section with comfortable seating beyond. Lots of Liverpool related décor on the walls including two large B&W Liverpool FC related pictures above the bar, an interesting (for us non-locals) advertising poster for the former Liverpool overhead railway, and a Marlborough Hotel leaded stained glass window remains from the former guise of the pub.
Yes there was a few old men in (which I obviously added to), but the demographic was quite mixed and certainly a fair few youngsters and I guess the pub is now benefiting from the increasing number of students with digs locally and Slater Street now being sucked into the club and party quarter with wall to wall other bars up the street. It was always being well utilised when we walked past, especially as there are now some outside tables on the front of the pub which catch the afternoon sun quite nicely.
I didn’t return because its standard draft offerings only, although one of these was Shipyard American Pale Ale which meant I could turn a blind eye to the special offers for Becks and Coors..

Old Boots left this review about O'Briens

2010 Traditional styled street corner pub on the edge of Liverpool’s club and bar quarter and so popular with mainly older gentlemen. Open plan with the bar counter to the right and seating areas to left and at the back. The space round the bar is reserved for vertical drinking. Everything is in light wood, floor, counter, the bench seating and the table and chair furniture. All the usual keg beers are on sale and there is a small range of malts.
