For real ale drinkers, stay away. It's very limited. They tried, but they do not know how to look after their lines or cellar. Very much a lager pub. During the day mostly unemployed folk 3 or 4 of them. However evening activities and the weekends have made this pub a lot more popular. Refurb few years back made a huge difference. And decent happy barmaids make the difference, if your lucky enough to get the happy ones (one particular one is always miserable and hugely annoyed at being disturbed from using her phone!!!!) But in all, if you want to have a fun evening, it's a good local pub. Very chatty. Not too much pub, but it hasn't claimed to be a restaurant. Should have a better name to be honest.

Typical post-war estate pub tucked away in the back streets of Spring Park, Shirley. The interior comprises of one large room, slightly partitioned in the middle. There are a few tables and chairs dotted around and some banquettes and bar stools, but the area in front of the long bar counter is notably empty. The wallpaper and carpet help to give the room a more homely feel which such a large, open space would otherwise not have had. I noticed two large plasma screens, one of which was showing Sky Sports News, whilst the other was off. There is also a pool table, juke box and a couple of games machines - all down one end of the pub, which was in darkness on my midweek, early evening visit.
Two ales were on - Courage Best and Greene King IPA (£2.70), plus a limited keg range which left most of the long bar counter looking very empty. My IPA was served far too cold, but the barmaid seemed friendly enough and was happily chatting to her regulars as she carried out her work. Posters advertised curry and a pint for £7 on Monday nights, but aside from that, I didn't see any other mention of food.
I thought this was quite a nice community local, but there wasn't really enough here to make me want to return and given it's awkward location, I wouldn't say it's worth going out of your way for.
