The Waterfront is a very large pub that faces the marina.
Once inside there was a smart looking lounge to the right, this area was carpeted and had a wood burning stove on the go,the bar was just beyond this area and this area had tall tables and stools and had a stone floor, the largest area was set aside for diners which had views to the marina.
There were 7 real ales on the bar,we tried Blyth Marina bitter which was a very malty beer and went down nicely and Elland Park bitter which was a really nice hoppy beer, the other beers were Blyth Barton Pale Ale,Taylor Landlord,Pedigree,St Austell Tribute and Directors bitter.
The pub was very busy with a mix of diners and drinkers.
The beer was very nice and well kept here but this is not really my sort of pub.

Well described below,I would add that the tables and chairs around the bar area are where drinkers can gather without ordering food, while there is a woodburner to one side which adds a bit of charm. There is a large exterior terrace beyond the dining area with views over the extensive marina. The inane musak would have driven me to distraction had it not been for the quality of the ale, this place fully deserves it's GBG listing .An imaginative selection of real ale and informative bar attendants ,totally unexpected in this modern building.

A detailed and accurate review from Mr Dragon below. The pub is very easy to reach by boat by entering the marina and navigating virtually to the front door where there are visitor moorings.
Although we didn't eat the menu looked interesting and if I was hungry I'd certainly give it a go.
Not a place that invites you settle in for a session as it doesn't have that cosy and intimate ambience but, surprisingly for this sort of venue, the ale range is wide and the quality high.
Regular beers are Pedigree and Waterfront Marina and Barton. Guests on our visit were Brains Rev James, Black Hole Super Nova and Sarah Hughes Surprise with the latter two going down especially well.
An excellent option for a thirsty lunchtime on the canal.

A large detached undressed brick built pub and eatery in the Barton Marina. A very modern place, built i think in 2007, along with all the other refurbishment of the area. The exterior is a little austere. It has a conservatory dining area and a patio area.

The interior is an large open plan room around the central serving bar area. It is set-up for for food so typical of the modern approach, but this place is tidy and decorated well. I didn't eat so can't comment on that. The decor is a mix of cream and wood panel, with undressed brick and new beams. The floor is a mix of wood and flagstone and there is a white ceiling. Yes, there are some sofas and comfy chairs, as well as big brick fireplaces. There was canal ephemera all over the place, not a shock there then. The service was OK and the place was very busy for a Monday. There was general music at at decent level.

Beer; tap stuff with Peroni and 7 real ales; Cameron Strongarm, Burton Pale Ale, Pedigree, St Austell Tribute, Waterfront Marina Bitter, Gold Medal Ale Four Founders and Bishop's Finger. The Strongarm and the Tribute were decent.

Not my kind of thing as a place - i would nip to the Barton Canal Turn as a traditionalist, but great for the modernist and a great choice of real ales, seemingly well kept, for the more discerning drinker. All in all, worth a visit.
