This characterful 16th century pub is another former Greedy King house which has struggled to survive in recent years. It re-opened in May 2013 after having been closed since September the previous year after being bought by a local farmer who owns the surrounding farmland.
It’s obviously been tarted up internally since the previous owners posted the pictures on this site in 2010 and although it still retains the central beamed bar area, the adjoining spaces are now mainly laid to dining and there is a new outside dining and drinking area to make the most of the fantastic views this pub offers.
Fortunately the group of four hand pumps remain on the bar and Woodforde Wherry and Adnams Bitter seem to be resident ales with the other two supporting regular changing guests. And for my visit Woodforde’s Nog and one called Black pig, from the Old Cannon brew pub in Bury St Edmunds, and despite my fear of beer coming out of BSE the Black Pig was a decent pint.
For a pleasant village pub for a pint in the countryside it hit the spot. We didn’t eat here so cannot comment on the food and again a check of Trip Advisor is recommended to see how this place functions as a place to eat.
