Will Larter left this review about Powis Arms

I'd been meaning to come here on one of my trips to Clun and Bishops Castle ever since reading Ray's review (below), and my camping tour with a hire car last autumn prompted me to stay on the site behind the pub. (The instructions are a little confusing, but I found it is actually possible to book into the site by paying at the bar, if you're prepared to take a chance on the site being full.) The camp site was a bit dusty after a period without rain, and surrounded by trees which suck all the moisture out of the surface soil, I guess. But it's very pleasant here in the Shropshire Hills area of outstanding natural beauty. The pub is pleasant too, and has a toilet block behind it for campers as well as a sitting out area or beer garden next to the car park. Once inside it seems very food oriented, with most diners approaching the end of their meals when I arrived just after 8pm. I'm afraid I spent nearly an hour and a half over one pint, concentrated as I was on using the pub's wifi trying to upload some data onto my phone after too much use of Google maps on my trip. Sorry.

There were three hand pumps with local beers, which I failed to either note or photograph. I had Three Tuns Best, which was not as good as at the brewery tap in Bishops Castle earlier in the day (NBSS 2.5)
