I've been here numerous times before for Sunday lunch. Although it's been almost 4½ years since my last visit.

Set on a B road heading out from Bridgnorth towards Wales, it overlooks rolling Shropshire countryside.

The pub's carvery can be found in one or both of the rear rooms, furthest from the pub's side entrance. It appears to be served daily, but is especially popular on a Sunday lunchtime. Reservations are recommended.

For the casual drinker, there is little to recommend. Wye Valley HPA & Hobson's Town Crier are the 2 real ales, but seating is reserved for diners and you'd be very much in the minority if here only for a drink during carvery operation times.

A decent pub that serves good food in a nice location.

Graham Coombs left this review about Down Inn

Large and comfortable country pub with carvery, accommodation and function room. Independently owned, it is furnished in a traditional style, with timbering, plaster, stone and brick. Very friendly, food good and accommodation good value. Some nice beers included Hobsons Twisted Spire and a house beer. Good.
