Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Green Dragon

Attractive Good Beer Guide pub with a L-shaped bar given a lighter-than-expected-but-still-quite-traditional look. Also has a separate dining room off to the right. With four of the seven handpumps in use, I found HPA and Butty Bach from Wye Valley plus a couple of Ludlow beers: Gold and a fine Black Knight (£4.50).

As you can see from my photo the bar area was empty on our Saturday afternoon visit. The rest of the pub was completely full with diners, still there was a table opposite the bar, so sitting having a beer wasn't a problem. Another good point in here was that we were not badgered by the staff or the landlord to ask if we were eating today. Maybe they were fully booked, so they left us alone. Seven handpumps on the bar with five in use serving, Butty Bach, HPA, Ludlow Gold, Clun Loophole and Old Speckled Hen. We went for the Clun Brewery Loophole, which was a good tasting beer.

I was here at lunchtime, and was probably the only customer not eating. At other times I imagine it would be drinkers only, as there are seven hand pumps on the bar. One had a cider, and the others were all from local breweries (Hobsons, Wye Valley and Ludlow) with the exception of Bass. I had Hobsons Shropshire Stout, which went down well. Perhaps a little strong when I had 40 miles to cycle still, but we live and learn. I'll try not to call in at midday in future when I'm in this neck of the woods again.

Highly recommended Gastropub. Never thought I would say that!

Everything is perfect - food, excellent - with separate dining areas. Service was superb, too.

Beers - about 5 real ales on - I was tempted by the butty bach but went for a Ludlow Gold. Great choice - it was absolutely superb.

The Green Dragon has recently been extensively refurbished (in 2011) and a new family now run it. Good selection of local ales. Separate restaurant area. Children's play area outside. All-in-all a decent village pub.

Now this feels like a rather good local, even if a bit over-plush with green velour. Food seemed more of the home cooking than gastro variety and it was generally welcoming. Wouldn't mind a longer session.
