A plain undressed brick cottage styled pub with a nice beer garden. It is in the GBG and hosts regular live music nights.

The interior has two rooms that form an L-shape. I didn’t really see the lounge, other than there was a TV with the sport on, but the traditional bar is predominantly in white, with some wood panel, with a brick fireplace, burning a nice wood fire when I visited. The place was decorated for the forthcoming Halloween party and there were the traditional plates and cartoons on the walls. There was bar snacks and things like pie and chips for sale, though we didn’t eat and the bogs were zingy fresh! The service was really friendly, as were the locals, who chatted happily with me about the beer and pub in general. The TV in the bar wasn’t on and the music was general and quiet.

Beer; tap stuff, with a decent Ironbridge Foundry Gold and Hobson’s Town Crier, as well as an excellent Hobson’s MILD on handpull.

This is a really good pub, along with the Black Horse, the two are easily the best on their side of the river bridge – more than worth the 5 minute walk out of town. GO!
