As noted below, this is an original pub. I did notice the staircase on the way in but ignored it. Apparently it leads to an upstairs dining area and I'm confident that if it wasn't for that this would be the smallest Spoons of all as the downstairs area is tiny. It's an open plan square wooden floored room with typical fixtures and fittings. A large area was obstructed by one of their delivery trolleys and the Ladies doubles up as the disabled toilet! There was a fair crowd in on my Thursday afternoon visit although it doesn't take many to make it seem crowded.
The bar has five hand pumps which had a full choice of GK Abbot, Cotleigh Seahawk, Elgood's Golden Newt, Nottingham Rock Mild and Evan Evans Warrior. I went for the Golden Newt (£1.99) which was in good nick.
I liked this small Spoons and would return if I found myself in Northern Ireland again. It's GBG 2018 listed and deservedly so.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Central Bar (JD Wetherspoon)

A seafront Wetherspoons that benefits from having been a pub in the past, and thus avoiding too corporate a feel. The interior has been partially opened out to form a square bar, and it has an upstairs dining room with great views across to the castle. Four of five handpumps were operational when I visited - nothing particularly interesting on the beer front, but excellent value at £1.99.

Great spot for food and a pint or two. Tasty hand pulled Real Ales and the lowest Beer Prices in all of Northern Ireland. Extensive menu with food served on Sunday's as well. Right across the street from Carrickfergus Castle. Stop in after touring the Castle to stave off your hunger and quench your thirst.
