After living in the area for a few years and knowing The Bellhouse as a 'pub', I was very plesantly proved wrong on a recent visit for a friends birthday meal! We were invited to a 30th birthday at the The Bellhouse and I can honestly say I wasn't expecting too much, as I had always thought of it as an 'old man' drinking pub-how wrong I was!!!!
Speaking with the very friendly staff on our visit, I had learnt it had recently under gone a referbishment. The decor was beautiful, modern and airy but still very in keeping with the listed building that I was told it is.
From being shown to our table right through to leaving, the service was excellent. The menu had a lot of choice and to add to that we were presented with a specials list also. I ordered the home made pate to start and the wing of skate for mains...both were delicious. The size of the main dish was great value for money and you could tell it was fresh ingrediants being used! My partner had the pork belly for starter and the beef bourginon for main and those too were full of flavour and again was definitely not from a packet or microwave!
My friend had a lovely evening and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves-especially the glass (or two) of wine on the new patio area after the meal!
I would thoroughly recommend the Bellhouse to all my friends and family for a meal or even just for a drink of an evening, infact I will be going back next Sunday to sample their roast dinner!

Used pub since it opened then it was a very popular pub,various land lords over the years made it a good place for a few beers.Don't live in area anymore but have visited a few times since 2002 last visit 2010,beer has improved no ends ,quiet compared to it's heyday in the 70,s but still a good place for a few beers.
