This place is set above a shop on the hill through Belper. It's very modern and has a paved patio on the upper side that you need to go through to get inside.
It's a roughly L shaped room that really is like a small Spoons with cigarette smoke drifting through from the patio and rampaging kids whose parents couldn't care less what they are up to. I noticed some booths that had a TV screen at the end of them, an idea that I hope JDW never latch on to.
I decided to eat here and went for the rump steak which turned out to be a rump morsel with oven chips. It was cheaper than JDW but didn't include a drink. The beer choice from the four hand pumps was also a bit JDW with GK Abbot, Doom Bore, Pedigree and Sharp's Atlantic. I went for the Abbot (£2.80) which was in good nick.
JDW have shown an interest in Belper in the past and I'm sure if they opened an outlet here it would kill this place stone dead. Luckily for Stonegate they seem to have given up on the town.

The Green House is a large modern pub that is set above the road,so easily missed when walking uphill,i only noticed it when walking back downhill.
The pub looks like a Wetherspoons pub,but it is not,it is a Stonegate pub.

Once inside there is a large square shaped room with a very long bar to the rear, the seating is tall tables and chairs near the bar, comfy bench seating on the left side and normal tables and chairs on a raised area to the front right.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Springhead Roaring Meg which was quite a nice drink, the friendly barman offered me a taster of a local brew called Belper Ale,this was a special brew for a Festival on the Sunday, this was quite a nice drink, the other beer was Bombardier.
The pub does food and was quite busy on my Saturday dinner visit.
This is a decent enough pub if you want a cheap meal and drink.

the greenhouse pub in belper is a good venue food is good service can be a bit slow at times.getting expensive esspecially bar snacks at nearly £1.00 for a bag of crisps.staff can be selfish to customers often rude.there is far too much sport shown constantly very annoying to cusomers.many walk out because of this .we complain but we are ignored like we dont matter.needs a big improvement in customer relationship ive often felt uncomfotable in this pub
