Late on Saturday morning I paid my second visit to The Station, the first being in 2014. This is a Beefeater run pub that is also used as the dining area for the adjacent Premier Inn… What fun!
The bar supports four hand pumps, but only St Austell’s Tribute was available due to the Hobgoblin being off and two hand pumps being unused. A standard keg selection was also available when the barman could actually be found. The serving of drinks to non-diners does not seem to be of high priority here.
During my visit I didn’t spot any televisions and there was no background music playing. As I left and turned towards Horsham Town Centre I noted that the presence of some picnic tables behind a knee high wall next to the busy roundabout outside the Train Station.

The young families that were dining after spending a night in the premier Inn all seemed happy enough, but this is not a pub that I will be rushing back to.

Rest assured I do not make a habit of venturing into Harvesters in search of a pint however circumstance being what it is with a changed timetable and teeming rain falling I found myself stuck at Horsham station for around 40mins. Inside is just what I expected from a corporate food lead chain however surprisingly there are four handpumps, two unclipped but still with two Jenning's ales, Cumberland Ale and Gold Digger. Quality was fine too.
There is a separate drinking area to the restaurant, predominantly with high tables, a false looking beamed ceiling, nondescript décor but in fairness the place filled a hole and I'm thankful for it for that.

Word reached me that the ale range at The Station had increased, so I took the opportunity to see for myself. I was pleased to find that I could choose from 4 (principally Marston's) although Adnams Bitter was also available; Tribute is clearly a regular, too, as the clip was just taped over with another. Quality was reasonable - good enough to stay for two before moving on.

As for what you will find; well, it's a Beefeater, if that influences you in any way. Recently refurbished, there's plenty of comfortable seats, exposed beams and soft wood. On sunny days, some of the clientèle seem to prefer an outside seat, which would be a more attractive proposition if not for the busy roundabout.

In summary, then: currently worth a look in, but probably not worth a special trip to Horsham, despite its proximity to the (railway) station.
