A Victorian former sea front hotel dating from around 1858, currently a freehouse. As you enter the foyer there are two doors with the words 'Restaurant' and 'Public Bar', though the latter has tables laid for diners, while the former is a drinking bar; apparently this does change every so often depending on what dinner bookings they have. There is also a small garden, largely dominated by the two pub dogs, a GSD and a Rottweiler, though we were told they sometimes have a hot tub in there. The Public Bar also has tv screens and a feature fireplace. There was only one ale on, London Pride, which was well past its best and not that enjoyable. A decent enough local, and maybe worth visiting for one of their special events or for lunch, but I wouldn't include on a crawl.

Not entirely sure what 'Steve C' is talking about... But from ONE visit I don't feel a 'review' is warranted...
I found this Pub in the summer of 2012 & have been a regular ever since.
I'm actually not a 'drinker' (& enjoy the cappuccino's) although I have my moments & the 3 shots of Sambuca for a fiver, works a treat :-)))
So my first love is FOOD & for me that's were this pub shines- HOME COOKED food using fresh vegetables & quality meats...
Getting to know the owners Kev & Lee over the last year, who are the PERFECT hosts... You quickly become part of the 'Napier family' & they're wonderful people.
My advice to you all is ~ try the food, it's so reasonably priced, quality home cooked food & prepared in an immaculate kitchen...
Hope you find my honest review helpful

The right hand side of the Napier is the lounge bar which felt more like a restaurant when I visited on Monday evening last week. I had a few pints in the public bar to the left, but had to walk through the lounge bar a few times to use the toilet. The food seemed to be priced very cheaply and I wonder about the quality, but I didn’t eat or see anyone eating so I cannot comment on it.
Unlike the lounge bar the public bar was quite busy with locals who were harmless enough, but not the most friendly to be honest. It was also a mixed bag with the staff as the service started off friendly until a shift change when we decided to move onto another pub.
Available from the bar was a standard draught selection alongside four hand pumps that were drawing London Pride (x2), Greene King IPA and Marstons Traditional Scrumpy. The plasma screen was off and I saw no Sky Sports advertisements. There is a jukebox, but the local radio station was preferred.
To the left of the pub is a small paved area that is railed off from the path and used by smokers.

I’d have no problem popping back in here during the day, but I’d probably skip it during the evening.
