Sam Smiths pub with their usual offerings. One room with bar to the right and a beer garden to the left.

When i first went in this pub it was called the Wig and Mitre which was a Samuel Smiths tied house with probably the most expensive pint in Lincoln at the time of visit.
For some strange reason the Wig and Mitre has been renamed to Widow Cullens Well and a new pub just up from here is now called the Wig and Mitre, all very confusing.
Once inside the pub has a single narrow room which extends to the rear, the bar is halfway down the room on the right side, the seating is bench type and normal tables and chairs.
There are two pumps on the bar both serving Old Brewery Bitter which was very nice and also very cheap.
Worth a visit for the cheap beer after the slog uphill.

Pub first visited has Wig and Mitre 27/3/1983

This is a little terraced Sam Smiths pub with a rear patio area. The frontage has an undressed brick upper, with Georgian style bow window, a dorner in the roof and a lower frontage in sky blue, with a large multi-pane window. The pub is a grade II listed building that is mainly 16th century, although it is on the site of an earlier building (the well is at the back of the pub).

The interior has two floors. The ground floor is a long room with a mixed stone and woof floor, white and beam ceiling and stone and white walls. The bar is halfway up on the right. The traditional decor is offset by the more modern furniture, with sofas, comfy chairs and stools. There are prints, mirrors and a set of picture of kings on the walls. The upper floor has a timber roof, white and clay coloured walls with timbers and a wood floor. There were the same kind of seats as downstairs, although this area seemed to be for dining. There were similar historical pictures on the walls. The service was fine and it was busy with a good mixed crowd. There was no TV that i saw and no music playing.

Beer; usual Sam Smiths range, with a decent enough but rather cold MILD

It is always worth visiting a Sam Smiths pub for the cost of the beer - and they usually stock their MILD. This place is no exception - certainly worth it for a swifty.

Lovely pub, you need to keep your eyes open otherwise you'll walk straight past this place down Steep Hill. Sam Smiths pub so only £1.54 for a pint of Old Brewery Bitter, as usual for Smiths the beer was served a bit too cold but I'll not complain, not those prices anyway.
