Found this one a little disappointing after working our way down Dale Street. It shares the courtyard with Thomas Rigby, also Okells pub but does not have a good beer choice. There was an Okells regular and Theakstons Lightfoot available and we chose the Lightfoot which was fine.

decent without being anything special. inside it feels very modern for this area, especially if you've just stumbled out of one of the other pubs nearby. slightly pretentious for the area though good pies available behind the bar. 3 real ales on which were good to be fair.

The pub is situated to the rear of a courtyard off Dale street, shared with Thomas Rigby's at the street side. Distressed boarded floors throughout each of the two areas, the front part has the bar where seating is fairly limited, the rear portion is larger and also has a dartboard.
Three handpumps, Okell's (from the I.o.M.) Bitter, Lancaster Brewery Lancaster Amber plus one unclipped. Food seems to be mainly charcuterie and cheese boards, £9.95 when served with bread, pickles etc but smaller cheaper versions also available. Muted TV for sports, quiet music playing. An ok if so-so spot.

Basically the part of Rigbys that people go when Rigby's is full.

I didn’t really quite get what this pub is trying to be, other than a place to drink while watching sport, when I visited last week. There were however three hand pulls with different ales, plus two ‘craft’ keg beers including the 10% Jaipur X. I had a very mediocre pint of Grey Hawk beer, at £3.10. All in all an underwhelming experience I thought, albeit perhaps had I picked a better beer and had there been some sport on that I wanted to watch I might have felt differently – it just didn’t seem to work for me on the day.

A good pub this one and is always worth a look in. The staff are friendly and chatty, they also host a good few beer fests throughout the year. Had a pint of Salopian Oracle which was spot on.

Called in last Monday night to watch the 2nd half of the Man Utd vs Blackburn game in comfort and safety. Very quiet inside the pub, with only 7 customers, but there were quite a few more out in the courtyard. Three handpumps on the bar with two on, serving Okells Bitter & Brecon Pale Beacons. Both were good pints served by the friendly barmaid. The other half likes the red wine as well. A pleasant hour, in nice surroundings watching Utd win, hard to beat on the night. :-))

This was until recently “The Courtyard” restaurant, it still looks rather like a restaurant inside as oldboots mentions with the exposed brickwork. There are 3 handpumps but only Okell's bitter and Bath Gem were on when we called on Sunday afternoon. The Gem was OK but not totally top notch. They have live music on Sundays from 6 and an open mic night on Wednesday. It's a bit wine bar ish for me but the other half loved it so I suspect we'll be back soon.

Previously a restaurant called the Courtyard, this place was taken over by the Okells brewery in 2008, creating an unusual double-header with its sister pub, Thomas Rigby’s, which is situated at the opposite end of the once eponymous courtyard. It’s a fairly simple, single room affair, although a central staircase leading down to the toilets creates enough of a partition to make it feel like there are two distinct areas. The front area is the smaller of the two, with the bar to the right on entry and standard table and chair arrangements filling the rest of the space. There are several pillars which break up the space a little and the walls have a few pictures of the Lady of Mann car ferry which used to sail between Liverpool and the Isle of Man. The bar counter is a fairly unattractive metal affair and the bar back has a large collection of coins stuck to it.
Moving past the stairs and into the back of the pub, there is a cosier area with bare brick walls, dartboard, TV screen and plenty more standard seating. This area struck me as the nicest place to settle down for a drink, although in good weather, the courtyard easily becomes the pub’s best asset. Music was playing during my stay and there were a number of adverts for live sports.
The beer choice was a bit of a let-down compared to those found in Rigby’s, with just two hand pumps offering Okells Bitter and Brains SA. The Bitter was okay, but if it’s good beer you’re after, you’d be better off on the other side of the courtyard.
This is one of three Okells pubs in Liverpool and as far as I’m concerned, it is by some way the runt of the litter. However, in isolation it is a decent enough pub with just about enough going for it to merit inclusion on a crawl around this part of town.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Lady Of Mann

Just popped in for a swift one during a crawl, so didn't really have the chance to take much in. However, since it shares a courtyard with its sister pub Thomas Rigby's, comparisons are inevitable and my first reaction was that this comes off slightly worse. This view is reinforced by the limited beer selection from the two of three handpumps on that day, offering Okells Bitter (£1.45, half) and Brains SA Gold. Need to return for a proper visit.
