Still reasonably cheap however the handpulls have been reduced to 3. Its still has loads of tellies and the layout is still the same open plan stuff. Oh, the three handpulls all had Doom Bore clips on and its awful stuff, even by Doom Bore standards. Reasons To Be Miserable pt 10 to be honest. There are much, much, much better pubs nearby.

28/7/15:
Cheapest pub on Hardman St. Can be full of student types and gets busy whenever the footy is on the telly. A couple of real ales available. 6

to be honest it may be quite cheap but it's just crap. dreadful big open plan room, and typically of Stonegate aimed squarely at the local students. the place has no character at all and there are umpteen better places to drink on this street alone.

ROB Camra left this review about The Flute

A massive bare floorboarded sports bar with a couple of raised areas. TV screens all over the place and a pool table in the middle. Quite a few girls in the bar which is unusual for a sports bar. 5 handpumps on the bar, but only 2 beers available, although 2 more had clips turned around. All the beers were from the extended Marston's stable. My pint of Marston's New World Pale was in decent nick, but Ms CAMRA's red wine was poor. If anything it's a bit better than I was expecting, but I'd probably still give it a miss next time I'm around here.

Repeatedly ignored despite being the only person at the bar, so walked out. Kolopedo.

Old Boots left this review about The Flute

A large barnlike “sports bar” with no fewer than 10 screens and a six foot square projection screen. Lots of pew style seating, games machines, and a bar back display of WKD bottles, the Gents are labelled “Male”. I guess that description says it all about the place. Mundane keg beers only although there is an handsome five pull set of beer engines still on the bar from its “Flute and Firkin” days, it was even in the Good Beer Guide at one time. Popular with all sexes and a wide age range and the bar service was pretty good.
