Tris C left this review about London Hospital Tavern

Nestling in the shadow of the Royal London Hospital sits this place, which dates from c. 1752, before the hospital received its royal charter. It had been some sort of awful style bar, with a horrible ‘tiger stripe’ orange and black exterior colour scheme, but has had a Lockdown revamp, with the original name reinstated as a result, visible in a crude tiled mosaic over the door.
Sadly and unsurprisingly, nothing of the original interior survives; it’s still a bit style bar, with a somewhat industrial interior of bare brick, grey paint and distressed elements; an early 20th century motorbike is nailed to a rear wall by way of décor. Furniture is conventional, lighting a mix of styles and restrained, with music playing at a moderate level over the hi-fi. Customers comprised some rather ordinary older blokes, then a group of mouthy ladz, who seemed to have a keen interest in Anglo-Saxon kings, given their repeated references to King Cnut, or at least that’s what I thought they were saying.
Surprisingly, there was real ale here: an anonymous pump reversed, Southwark Brewing’s Bermondsey Best (reversed), then Ringwood’s Razor Back at £2.45 a half and surprisingly good; there are lots of pump clip faces to the wall, to the right of the bar, so perhaps this place has a genuine interest in stocking the stuff.
This place isn’t a disaster, actually it’s better than expected, but I think that the holidays must have been in operation, as apparently this place is a magnet for the hospital’s medical students; London Met is nearby too and probably similarly holidayed.

Very run down and tired place. There is no external signage I could see to tell you the name or that it is a bar ! One real ale available was Doom Bar but I opted for the Estrella lager which is one of my favourites. £4.60 is I guess average for Central(ish) London but it still made me wince. This place is in desperate need of a refurb.
