Phantom Pigeon left this review about Hove Place

Visited with a family group of ten and a dog, on Boxing Day.
We were made most welcome and were offered a bowl of water for the dog before we ordered our drinks.
The food was of extremely high quality and represented good value for money.
Two proper beers were on the pumps, London Pride and Sussex Bitter. I can't comment on these as I had wine for a change.
The service was efficient and friendly.
We will definitely revisit when in the area and have no qualms in recommending it to others.

Steve C left this review about Hove Place

Hove Place recently opened after a refurbishment and although I had not visited before the redecoration the friendly barmaid did inform me that a lot of modernisation work had been carried out. There were a handful of other customers who all seemed in good spirits which may have been induced by the pungent paint fumes.
The entrance is set back from the road by a paved area that sits under some café style seating. Through the entrance some steps lead down to a seating area and some more steps to the left lead down to the bar area and more seating and a fireplace beyond. Out the back up some steps is a lovely beer garden with an Italian feel to it that probably gets very busy during the summer months. Signs state that the garden closes at 23:30 so I guess that there is a late license in the bar every night.
The draught offerings on the bar during my recent midweek evening visit were Fosters, Kronenburg, Peroni and Aspalls cider. The bar also supports three hand pumps that were drawing Harvey’s Best, Sharp’s Doom Bar and Arundel’s Trident. Food is served and a couple of mains off the blackboard were steak for £13 and a burger for £9, which I imagine both come with chips etc.

This is a decent basement bar and if I lived locally the wife and I would often be seen in here.
