After a fair few beers I walked past this one on the way back to my digs and the devil dragged me in. Well he did a decent job as there were five ales (Black Sheep Bitter and Golden, Kelham Easy Rider, GK IPA and Castle Rock Harvest Pale). Being a Southerner I first tried the lesser-spotted BS Golden which was rather flat and lifeless but the Pale Rider was much better. The open-plan interior (I imagine it used to be partitioned) of the pub has got a late-80’s ‘cosy refurb’ vibe inside; carpeted flooring, some partitioned drinking areas and heavy red velveteen curtains. Overall it was clean, tidy and tended. Customers here are well-catered for with papers, pool, big screen and darts. It’s obviously family-friendly as I spotted a bouncy castle(!) out back and a couple of decently-behaved sprogs were in attend-ance. There’s evidently a bit of sporting prowess amongst the regulars with lots of trophies scattered around, glinting in the light. A better class of piped music than one might expect too. My notes say that the barmaid looked like Julianne Regan from All About Eve but I’d had a few by this point so perhaps it was closer to Robert Smith. I said hello to the pub cat who treated me with bemusement (looking back, I can see why). If you’re doing the Jolly Farmer/Rutland Arms, you could do worse than pop in here for a swift one.

The Miners Arms is a stone built pub that is set sideways onto the road.
Once inside there was one large room that was divided into different areas, there was a small area to the right which had a pool table, darts board and TV this area was carpeted and had some tables and chairs in it,the main larger area where the bar was had three different seating areas, the seating was comfortable bench seats and tables and chairs.
There were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Kelham Easy Rider which was a very nice drink the other beers were Black Sheep bitter and GK IPA.
This is a nice comfortable pub to sit and relax in.
