Originally a water mill, the building has been well restored and converted into a pub and restaurant, much of the mill machinery kept as features and curios which actually does give it some character. It’s currently owned by Vintage Inns, though the barmaid refused to accept my Mitchell and Butler card as “that’s nothing to do with us”. She was also a bit unsure as to what constituted a full pint, but we got past that after some frank and honest discussion. There is a lot of parking space at the front and side and a surprisingly pleasant paved garden. Food was overpriced but good quality compared to other chains. Dogs were welcomed and water and nibbles provided for them. On one side was a tv showing live football. Two ales on, Pride and Doombar; I didn’t have the Pride, but the Doombar was in good condition. It’s not a venue of choice but it’s in nice surroundings and is good enough to stop for refreshments on the way through.

After the puff by Vintage Inns PR I went along in the hope of rubbishing the place.

However it is fine, as July no roaring fires, limited range of ales from what I could see, but not bog standard either.

More food orientated than pub, which is to expected given locale & likely clients

Loads of space, most given over to eating, the outside garden area is great, overlooks the River Meon & open fields

Plenty of parking spaces

Beer & food fairly priced, around 2.80 pint & from £7 upwards a meal

So, verdict is worth a visit if in area, but don't make a special trip

Never tried the food, so although it pains me to do it, 3 stars it is

The Titchfield Mill is known in Titchfield, Fareham and across Hampshire as a fine country pub. We are situated next to the small river Meon. There is always a warm welcome with roaring log fires, freshly prepared food, good selection of real ales and a wine menu for you to choose from.
