Blackthorn _ left this review about Raddy's Cafe Bar

As it’s name suggests, this is really a café/bar rather than your traditional pub, although having said that, whilst it certainly has a café/bar look to the place, there was nobody eating on our recent mid-week evening visit and there was a jar of pickled eggs behind the bar which is surely the sign of a proper pub. Be sure to check opening times before making a special journey, as we have found this place to be shut on a number of previous occasions when you would reasonably expect a pub to be open.

Décor wise, it all seemed rather brown and drab with little of any note. There was some laminate wood flooring running up the centre of the pub, with brown carpet either side. The brown ceiling had a glitter ball hanging from it, suggesting that perhaps it gets a bit livelier on some occasions. A number of trophies and shields were on a shelf above the bar, although I don’t know what these related to – there was no sign of a darts board, for example, but perhaps it was hidden away somewhere. A TV screen was off to one side, but this was not in use. Seating was mostly upright brown leather backed chairs, and there was also a patio area at the front, although these had all been packed away.

Food wise, the menu looked to offer a selection of basic café/pub grub dishes such as jacket potatoes, omelettes, burger, fish & chips, ham egg & chips, lasagne, etc., and these mostly looked to be priced somewhere around £7.

There were no real ales on tap unfortunately, with just keg John Smith’s being available. Ciders were well represented though with a trio from Thatcher’s – Haze, Dry and Gold along with Strongbow Dark Fruit, as well as something from Rich’s and Janet’s Jungle Juice racked up in boxes behind the bar.
