Previously The Northwood Hills, this large town centre pub has now become mainly an Indian restaurant, although the front bar remains a public bar. There is no real ale, the wine list is poor, but the Indian food is very good. Not worth including on a pub crawl, but worth it for a decent Ruby and convenient for the Tube station.

Although this place advertises itself as a pub/Indian restaurant I found that it was more like a pub when I visited on a recent Saturday afternoon. OK, the lighting is dim and the décor would have one believe that they’ve just entered an expensive cocktail bar, but the bar is well stocked with standard draught products and I didn’t find the prices to be excessive. This place was never going to be as busy as the Spoons over the road, but there was a good crowd in attendance watching some sport on the two plasma screens and there were also some families out in the large back garden. This rear area has a grassed area with climbing frame and slide for the kids and a nice decked area with outside bar for those who cannot be bothered to walk ten feet to the inside bar. There is also some seating under two jumbrellas out the front, but this is next to the car park and main road.

I spotted some decks against the wall at the end of the bar so there are obviously dance nights in here and I loved the Jack Daniels hologram picture on the central pillar that splits the bar in two.

This isn’t a place that I would actively seek out, but I would use it if I lived locally as it is preferable to the JDW over the road.
