Lovely rambling coaching house - with plenty of rooms to split the diners from the drinkers. Some wonderful red cushioned bench seating.

Theakstons was in fine condition.

This pub used to be an Home Ales tied house in the 80s.
Now this pub is quite basic but it was very busy with one room full of people dining,we had a drink in the room at the front of the pub which was a bit quieter there were three real ales on here i had a drink of John Smiths Cask Bitter and this was a decent enough drink the other beers were Caledonian 80/- and Theakston Black Bull Bitter.
Not a bad place for a quick drink but not one to stay the night in.

I came by this pub when I chose a walk from the Camra book of Peak District Pub Walks.

Three roomed pub with basic interior but in a nice location opposite the village church. Guest rooms are available upstairs - we stayed over and it was good (and cheap) enough and the food was OK too. The three ales on handpull were Theakston’s Black Bull, John Smith’s Bitter and (my favourite from the 5 or so I tried on my crawl of the day) Caledonian Autumn Ale. I would go back for a drink if I visit Youlgrave again.

Located at the eastern end of the village, near the imposing church. Several small rooms basically furnished. A few real ales available from a local brewer as well as national & regional brews. Good portions of home cooked food, nice but not adventurous. Small car park at the rear. I'd like to give more than 2 stars but it is not good enough for 3.
