St Crispin is the patron saint of cobblers - anyone familiar with Shakespeare's Henry V will know his feast day is the date of the battle of Agincourt, October 25. The old low building housing this pub is clearly not as old as either Shakespeare or King Hal, but it is getting on a bit. Inside, the low ceiling joists and beams are adorned with a stupendous collection of jugs, mugs and cups of many sizes and different materials.
There's plenty of room, with most tables of the small dining variety, with only a few stools around the bar for drinkers, though when I was there food had finished for the evening and it didn't feel awkward taking my drink to one of the tables, as it might in some places.
There are five hand pumps, serving a range of Robinsons beers plus Old Rosie cider. I had the "Robinsons Crusoe", a summer special. As with a lot of Robbo's beers, it could do with as much effort being put into the brewing as into the name, as I found it totally forgettable. There was an extensive food menu on the blackboards, with mains in the range £9 to £16, but there were also cheaper options like omelettes, jacket potatoes and sandwiches.

The Crispin is one of two Robinsons houses in Great Longstone.
This is quite a nice looking pub from the outside and once inside it was just as good,there were a few different rooms we had a drink in the room at the front which was a fairly smart and comfortable room to have a drink in,there was also a seperate dining room and a function room to the rear.
This pub is a Robinsons tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Robinsons bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Robinsons Old Stockport.
I thought this was a decent enough pub to have a few drinks in.
