The Ye Olde Vaults is a stand alone pub that has got narrow streets either side of it and the market place in front of it.
When i first went in this pub it was a Bass tied house and i had a drink of Bass which was a very nice drink.
On our second visit we went in a smallish room at the front which was quite dark with dark bare boards and not that much natural light, there was one real ale on the bar which was Pedigree this was ok but nothing special.
This pub was ok for a quick drink but we would'nt want to stay in any longer.

Booked into here for one night on 25/6/2010, never again! Once shown to our room I discovered a 'present' left for us down the toilet pan! Bed linen was tatty and smelt musty, and I opened a drawer only to discover some old toenail clippings! There were also pigeon droppings on the INSIDE windowsill!

My partner (who isn't easily rattled)took the 'we only want a bed for the night' attitude so wasn't too bothered. However this changed when we were awoken at 2.15am by the (very drunken) landlady banging on our door demanding the payment, using the excuse that she needed payment then as she wouldn't be around in the morning! I think it's more likely she was aware of the disgusting state of the room and was worried we'd do a runner without paying! We were also kept awake most of the night by people shouting and slamming doors.

For this experience we paid £50 for a double room, on the net it said this included breakfast but on booking we were told breakfast was not available, but the price was still £50! However, judging by the state of the room, and the service I very much doubt I would have wanted to eat there anyway! Despite our lack of sleep we vacated our room as early as possible in the morning, not a pleasant experience, and not one I intend to repeat!
