E TA left this review about Half Moon Inn

The site was originally a couple of 13th Century farm cottages, then was developed as a coaching inn as it is close to what was once a main road through the Blackdown Hills, from which it is currently signposted. There is a car park and garden on the other side of the road, the latter having great views across the vale. Inside, the three font rooms are nearly open plan, two conjoined rooms with tiled floors at one end and a small carpeted snug with a piano the other. There is a large open fireplace with a woodburner, the smell of which when we entered was most welcoming and gave the place a homely atmosphere. The barman was very chatty, made us feel immediately welcome and told us the pub had been in the same family for 17 years. They provide home-cooked food at a reasonable price so is very popular among family diners, especially at weekends. Dog treats are available on the bar, alongside two ales, Otter Bitter and Jail Ale, plus a bank of keg drinks. Definitely worth seeking out.
