Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Malt Shovel
Looks like a village local from the outside, but turned out to be much more of an eating pub than I expected. Also wholly made-over inside in a rather incongruous way, with the main bar refurbished in a modern style and the other room now a dining area. However, the small terrace at the front and the rear beer garden are more reassuringly traditional. Doom Bar and Tribute (£3.80) available from the two banks of three handpumps, with something that was just being changed over as I ordered.

Disappointing as from the outside it looked promising. Now called swallows malt shovel rather pretentiously after the landlord (i think). List of previous incumbents shows that it was in the same family for years and years. Nasty vinegary beer and all in all a big let down.
