Steve C left this review about Railway Hotel

The Railway Inn Hotel is a large L shaped pub, unsurprisingly, within spitting distance of Sawbridgeworth Railway Station. At the front of the pub is a raised area with seating and a dartboard. The bar runs along the right hand wall and at the rear is a pool table. Plasma screens are located throughout and the football programme ‘Premier League Story’ was being aired. My visit was on a recent Thursday afternoon when there were a handful of friendly locals propping up the bar. Whilst waiting to be served I noted that live music was advertised for the next evening (Friday).

The bar is stocked with standard draught and supports two hand pumps. One of these was off and the other was drawing Seafarers English Ale. Food is available all day and the pub grub mains on the specials board were priced around the £8 mark, which is a good price for the area.

Outside the front of the pub are some weather-beaten picnic tables and a large car park for diners, and guests who are staying at the accommodation at the rear.

This pub certainly isn’t a hidden gem, but friendly locals and polite helpful service made my visit very enjoyable so I would make a point in returning if in the area again.
