Steve C left this review about The Distillery

The Distillery is a long and thin pub with a bar counter midway up the right hand wall, depending on which way you enter. There’s seating at either end and opposite the bar are some booths. The three hand pumps on the bar were badged with Black Sheep, TT Landlord and Wychwood’s Dirty Tackle. Unfortunately they were all off due to ‘technical difficulties’ so standard and premium keg was the choice, alongside an offering from Beavertown and eight craft keg from the back bar. Food is available from the same menu as the Loaded Dog that I visited earlier in the day. The burgers in here are £2.50 more expensive at £12.50. I asked for a half and got a pint, unfortunately not for the price of a half. An after work / weekend evening pub.

Now called The Distillery as per the photo attached. A long room with the bar on the right. Three or four hand pumps and eight craft ales on the wall. No a bad place.

Contempory dining venue but room enough to drink as well, there is a variety of drinks including a cocktail list, 5 real ales & craft beers on draught.

The real ales included Bombardier and then 4 from micros. The food includes a street food platter.

Mainly set out with square tables at an angle throughout the one one space between 2 streets, there are chandeliers & wood floor with silver grey walls.

Not much inside or out but the extra marks for the quality and choice of drinks, great to see a chain make this much effort.

The air conditioning works!

Listed in the GBG so thought I’d give it a go. It’s a long and narrow building with an entrance at either end, leading onto two different streets. Five ale taps with three on; Yates Bitter, Kelham Island and Orkney (cold but good and fairly cheap too) with Bombardier being pulled through. A slight industrial feel to the interior with the décor shot to pieces in places - scruffy. Loud echoes throughout the high-ceilinged interior from sports TV. Some tables pre-set for dining but can’t imagine what sort of person they’re attempting to attract. A decent stop for the beer and football but hardly essential. Still, better than the usual Slug on the ale front...

A typical Slug with regards to the decor, but it's very different from most on the ale front. There are 5 handpumps on the bar serving Oakham Inferno, Bombardier and 3 changing guest usually from local breweries. The barstff were very friendly and chatty on my Thursday evening visit. My pint was in great condition and there was a small CAMRA discount. This pub is in the CAMRA GBG2013. It won't suit everyone, but the ale is very good. It's nice to see a Slug becoming a regular in the GBG.

Not used to going into these pubs, but had heard good reports of the Leicester one as they have an interest in real ale and hold beer festivals there. It is in the 2012 Good Beer Guide. Popular bar as it is in the market area, and there were TV's on showing different Olympic events when we were in. 4 handpumps with 2 ales on and we had no problem with either. They were Llangorse Maid Horsin' Around, and Broughton Dark Dunter.
