A village local in a large and widely dispersed village on a hillside near the coast. I was staying at a camp site nearer to Beaumaris and cycled up here one evening - it's quite a steep hill!
Once inside there's a long bar facing, apparently built of fake stone (though I stand to be corrected if anyone knows better), with dining rooms to the left and right. In front, there's plenty of standing room that was being well used by some locals for a chat, plus some comfortable seats for those of us recovering after the bike ride to get here.
On the bar are two hand pumps, but only one was in use at the time of my visit, serving Box Steam Sand Caskale. (Possibly the worst pun I've seen on a real ale pump clip - "sandcastle", geddit?) The beer was better than its name, and at least it wasn't gritty. I'm glad I came this way and if a lived here, or was staying in the village for a holiday, I'd be happy to call it my local. Not sure about cycling up here again, though.
