After visiting two town pubs in Mold and Flint with no real ale, I secured the hat trick here. Keg beers were Fosters, Amstel, John Smith's, Moretti, Inch's, Strongbow Dark Fruit, Peroni & Heineken Silver.

The location of this rural pub is what makes it, with the conservatory, garden and car park all enjoying fine views of the Welsh Hills. As you enter, the older part of the pub is to the right-hand side. In fact, the public bar has plenty of character and my visit here could have been quite enjoyable had a TV not been blasting out 700 Cristiano Ronaldo goals at an unacceptable volume. The room to the left has the better views but is much more modern and probably used more by diners.

My arrival at around 5pm could possibly have been only shortly after opening. I was certainly the first customer, the pub was quite cold, and I had to pee in the dark in the gents.

With the TV turned down, a few more customers and a real ale or two, this could be a really good pub. It is still worthy of a visit for the views alone.

Re-Opened on 20 April 2013 (with much publicity) as a community run pub, owned by a local co-operative group.

This historic traditional local was closed overnight by the landlord in February 2011 and put up for sale with change of use.
The local people want to buy it and run it as a community pub. the landlord was resisting this, but after a 16 month campaign, he has agreed to sell it at an inflated price.
If more funding can be found, this pub could soon be open and selling beer again!
