Close to the town centre, but unfortunately for the chain, they didn't manage to get prime location along Alfreton's main high street. The pubs entrance and main bar area was long and narrow and opens up towards the rear. The main colour scheme was peach, with lots of dark furniture, the main bar area was also finished in dark oak. Two banks of five pumps, with nothing outlandish, so we went for the Hanlon's Yellowhammer golden ale.

Wetherspoons "yes", What I expect from them all across the country. Good thing is food comes out faster than other "Spoons" and is consistently "Bloody Good". Staff as always are Brilliant, Polite and helpful. "Sophie" (Manager) "WOW".

As I approached this I thought it looked like an original pub although JDW do seem to have given it a rather garish external look. Inside it could be any other Spoons as it's a long narrow room that is rather dark and has the bar further back on the right.
The bar here has two sets of five hand pumps but it was so dark I couldn't see all the beers. There was one available soon, one unused, Doom Bore doubled, Abbot, Woods Shropshire Lad, two ciders from the festival over a month ago, Three Castles Autumn Daze and one I couldn't make out. I went for the Autumn Daze (£2.15) which was in good nick but a fairly mundane beer.
I had no problems with the staff here and it seemed a reasonable Spoons to me.

Long narrow L shaped Spoons. Main entrance and bar is divided in two, lengthways, and is decorated in a rather nasty salmon colour with third length wood panelling. A nicer far rear left area, up a step to a light and airy room much better decorated leading to a decent rear patio. On our Thursday afternoon visit the pub was functioning more as a crèche, and the continuous bawling of one particular little delight made my head hurt. Loads of ales clipped at the bar but all bar two were unavailable, leaving Irish Red from Everards and Robinson Trooper 666. The Red was a pretty ropey half. All in all this is a depressing, poor quality Spoons.

I'm not a great fan of JD Wetherspoon, but somehow found myself with half an hour to spare in Alfreton so called in here. It's unusual to find a Spoons in a converted pub - usually it's a bank or cinema - but once through the door it's just like any other Spoons, that is, it's nothing like a pub. There are eight hand pumps, in two separated banks of four, with two ciders next to the standard Abbot and Ruddles, and four guests, or what the posters laughingly refer to as a beer festival. Here the choice was between three pale beers, all made with new world hops, or a porter flavoured with cherries. I ended up, after some dithering, with Bengali, a 6.4% IPA brewed by Marcus Lutter, from Sixpoint brewery in New York, at Adnams. At under £1 for a half, I suppose this is remarkable value, and definitely better than drinking Ruddles, but it's not really the sort of beer I'd want to drink more of.

Well Tim Martin you want to look at this one i am a pub Manager for Marstons Inns And Taverns. we called in three years ago it was the pubs birthday we had a meal there we eat in a lot of your houses. We went there to eat but the place was in a mess it was dirty the carpet looks as if it as not been hoovered for days the stair case to the toilet was dirty the skirting board was covered in dust. The tables were full of dirty plates and glasses so we could not have sat at a table if we wanted too. It took a while to get served the staff were play acting it must have been the managers day off the drinks were fine.We had been to a meeting i was wearing a suit and tie so i was smart I was going to pretend i was there new area manager i asked the girl do you know who i am no i don't give a f--k and walked away and started play acting with the rest off the staff I only hope that if this is the carry on in my pub on our time off it is brought to my attention

This pub used to be a Kimberley tied house since Wetherspoons took over this pub they have altered the pub both inside and out.
Once inside the decor is typical Wetherspoons but this has a more pubby atmosphere as it is smaller the most Spoons.
There is the usuall choice of beers on the bar with a decent amount of real ales i car'nt remember what beer i had here but it was a decent drink.
