Old Boots left this review about The Phoenix

Large pub across from one of the two ‘spoons, obviously an old establishment but mostly messed about more than a bit. Lots of screens, pale grey woodwork, machines. Four pulls of mixed beers, they were in good nick as it’s GBG listed. Downstairs toilets.

ROB Camra left this review about The Phoenix

A huge pub just off Lord Street. Open plan, but with several distinct areas. There were a lot of "divvies" in during our visit, but they were showing a Liverpool home match on several of the many TV's. :-)) It was all very friendly in a raucous sort of way. 4 handpumps on the bar serving a god selection of styles. My pint was in very good nick as well. It made a pleasant change to be in a real pub after visiting the pretentious mess that is the Potting Shed nearby. Give a 10% CAMRA discount as well

Reopened and still called The Phoenix. Serves up to 4 real ales. A large open plan pub. Is liable to attract divvies.
