I was slightly worried when approaching this one from the direction of Bowes Park as missing letters would have you believe the pub is called The Pingfield and I wondered if it would have a Fawty Towers vibe inside as well.
Fortunately not and it turned out to be a decent enough one room pub. Not sure if it is anything to do with Green King as none of their products were in evidence for my visit and two of the three available hand pumps were badged with Marston’s Pedigree and Brakespears Best and the latter was a decent enough pint.
Now one internal opened out space with plenty of comfortable spacing, there were probably too many screens for my liking including one very large dominating pull down one which may just have been for the current Football World Cup.
There also a good smart external courtyard area out the back which looks like it was brought up to date recently, presumably as a result of the Covid restrictions.

Owned by Greene King, and their dead hand sadly dominates the pub. There was also an unpleasant odour on entering but this may have been due to the presence of a large band of middle aged all day drinkers, who were sitting on bar stools blocking access to the bar. There was a strange sign on one wall stating that entry by large groups may be refused, which left me wondering, there was an odd atmosphere and my presence as a stranger was being observed by a few folk.In such an ethnically diverse area ,there appears to be a mono culture here of lager and Guiness drinking while watching the racing. The two ale options were GK IPA and a house beer,no doubt GK sourced, called Spingfield Bitter (£3,malty mess of a brew).
Sky and BT Sport is screened, there is a pub grub menu but the open plan interior lacks charm and character,it is simply functional.I couldn't wait to leave, and leave the regulars to their very own pub.

Well I've been in here a few times recently and its been totally refurbished and did it need it. New toilets are downstairs in part of the old cellar an extension has been built on the back including disabled toilets and its finished to a very high standard of decoration & restoration 100% better than before and its not been wreaked by the gastro brigade. Its serves good food & has three real Ales on tap was well also still has plenty of screens for showing sport things are look good lets hope they do well as they have certainly spent some wedge doing it up.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Springfield Park Tavern

The ground floor frontages are painted a rather alarming bright green, so not surprisingly it has a partial Irish theme. Otherwise, fairly traditional furniture and decor with a pool table in the middle of a slightly raised seating area. Food facilities in the back room. Quite busy on an early Monday evening, and the place had a down-to-earth but good-natured atmosphere. Only one of the four handpumps was working, dispensing Courage Best (well priced at £2.40), but they are obviously willing to try something a bit different as the much scarcer Dunscar Bridge Wicketkeeper had only just run out. Overall, seems like a reasonable place for a pint.

I still use this Pub regularly and have been doing so since around 1975 I still find it as good now as it ever was. What I like about it is Its still a proper working mens Pub. OK its Not Posh or tarted up I admit but its what a Pub should be in my opinion Shows most Sports Including Football Horse Racing ETC. It serves a good Pint of Guinness & even better now seems to have London Pride on sometimes & Courage Best Ales on as well. Theres always a good crowd of regulars in to talk to and have a laugh with and the staff are always very good & friendly . Worth a try it you like or enjoy a proper Pub not a plastic manufactured licenced Restaurant like so many other Pubs have become these days.

I found this place to be a great boozer with friendly locals and bar staff. A shed load of lager is available along with Pride, Courage Best, Tetleys Smoothflow and Guinness. I thought that the Pride was very good.

There is a small TV screen and larger plasma, but last week there was a sign in the door window saying that the Arsenal v Spurs game would not be aired due to no Sky Sports in the pub (surely not). There is also a pool table on a raised area at the front of the pub.

This is a decent boozer and a future stop off on my way home when alighting at Bounds Green after a few beers in town.
