Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Craft Beer Co

First revisit in eight years when it was the Yardbird (and before that the Trout). So different now because it has a much more modern look inside even though it's still like a dull shopping-centre boozer externally. The Craft Beer Co. now offers 16 interesting craft beers on the keg tap founts, but I found Brew York's Make it Mosaic (£6.15), Burton Bridge Best Bitter and a pair of Seaciders being dispensed from four of the six handpumps. Also still as handy as it was for those arranging to meet up before or after a gig at the nearby Hammersmith Apollo.

Burrowed somewhere within the shopping centre that sits beneath the bus station and above the Piccadilly & District Lines, I wandered in what I hoped was the right direction and was pleased to find this pub. Internally, it's a curious pink and green colour scheme, somewhat like what I'd imagine it to be like in an ice cream. Having said that, there's air con, which was extremely welcome on a hot afternoon.

Also welcome was the sight of 6 handpumps, all badged up with premier league small breweries like Vibrant Forest & Brew York. And the ale's properly chilled and served in tip-top condition. Premier league prices, too, with my 4% session IPA coming in at £5.95.

2 banks of keg fonts offer 16 interesting beers from across the styles.

The barman was on good form, so I'd recommend this Craft Beer Co outlet.

This branch of Craft Beer Co appears to have gone downhill since my last visit in March, 2020 just before the country locked down and before I joined Pubs Galore.

It's a modern-looking bar with funky tiling, which gives it a cold feel. There is an entrance from the shopping centre and another from outside near the Hammersmith A4 flyover.

If you like you're craft beers and have plenty of cash, this place is likely to suit you. However, real ale has now been reduced to one. I do quite enjoy Siren Broken Dream, but it was also the same beer that was sat alone on my last visit to the Hatton Garden branch.

Quinno _ left this review about Craft Beer Co

A recent addition to the CBC portfolio, inside (almost) the Broadway Shopping Centre and rather convenient for the Apollo (indeed, on our way back from there we saw here and popped in). It all fells quite new and shiny inside, with a vibe akin to an ice cream parlour (maybe it was the pink table legs that did it?). Of most interest are the mirrored honeycomb effect ceiling, the embossed tilework and the geometric patterning of the floor tiles, all quite unique and enjoyable. The chipboard bar front spoilt things a bit, why make it look cheap and shit when the rest of the places has been done so well? Similar to PSM below, there was a synthpop soundtrack playing on my visit. Six ales at the bar plus a load of keg (20?) – there are menus on the tables telling you much each individual craft beer is (and you’d be wise to check, with some clocking-in at over £10 a pint); the cask is priced by %abv banding. I tried a Strong Bitter from a brewery I neglected to note (a bit long in the tooth, NBSS 2.5) and Wild Beer Pogo (3.5), the latter of which ended-up as a pint rather than a half due to the hyperactive barman not actually listening. Mrs Quinno also tried a couple of the craft ones and pronounced herself quite satisfied. Overall, it’s a decent stop.

This latest venture from the reliable Craft Beer Co chain has a slightly odd location inside the Broadway Shopping Centre, which means it is easily passed when heading to or from Hammersmith tube station. Things didn’t bode well when I arrived post-work and found just two bar staff on with a queue snaking from the bar to the back of the pub – not people spread-out along the bar, but a long, winding queue. I nearly gave up and went elsewhere but decided to persevere and eventually made it to the bar where I found a modest cask range of Thornbridge Ashcroft, Kirkstall Claire & Phil’s, Fyne Ales Jim & Stevie’s and the house Pale Ale from Kent Brewery. Two long keg fonts supplemented this selection with countless craft keg options, but I stuck with the cask, giving the Kirkstall a try, which turned out to be a very drinkable pint, although I would’ve probably drunk anything after a wait at the bar like that.
The pub has a nice contemporary feel to it and doesn’t immediately strike you as an obvious shop conversion (aside from its location in a shopping centre!), thanks to some creative styling. The room has nice diamond patterned tiles, unusual wall tiles with circular concave mid-sections and some hexagonal-shaped mirrors on the upper part of the walls which create an attractive honeycomb visual effect. The L-shaped servery has a basic bar counter with the aforementioned wall tiles on the bar back surrounding a large, retro-style Craft Beer Co pub mirror. Seating is a mix of padded chairs, button backed banquettes and high tables and stools with a good deal of open space in the centre of the room which is ideal for busier times or for forming a long queue in. A few high tables and chairs had been set out in the courtyard to the rear of the pub and there was an interesting synth-pop soundtrack playing, which seemed to suit the young, transient customer base.
I quite liked this place and thought it was an improvement on some of the chain’s other recent openings. The pub is relatively small but has a location with lots of footfall, so having just two bar staff on during the post-work rush hour, prior to a big show at the neighbouring Apollo, was a mistake and would need addressing to ensure repeat custom, but overall there were more positives than negatives and I’m sure I’ll be back again sometime soon.

The easiest way to find this pub is to take a left out of the underground station, staying on the ground floor and go to the end of the shopping centre and then take a right at the far end. The interior of this Craft house is quite wacky, see my photos. Apart from all the hexagonal shaped mirrors, the concentric patterned timber tiled floor will also send you off balance. Other features in here was the highly polished veneered bar counter, plus the entrance staircase to the ladies toilets was illuminated in pink and very trendy, according to Mrs A. Three cask beers from Anarchy and two from Beatnikz. I went for the Anarchy Blonde Star without any hesitation, as this is a favourite of mine. The young barman was very friendly and helpful when choosing a beer. The majority of the drinkers on our visit were focusing on the keg beers.

Alas Tric.s simple clean pub has turned into a pink and mint green multi mirrored 60.s themed brash emporium. One room, corner aspect bar.Highly bling.6 cask beers and a dozen keg beers.Find the Craft Beer Co expensive for cask especially the low gravity ones.3 beers from Beatnikz and 2 from Anarchy on cask. Outside high table seating with alternating pink or mint coloured stools.Usually like wacky interiors but don't like this one.

Tris C left this review about The Yardbird

Dating all the way back to 1989, this mini shopping centre pub exists to serve the needs of the terminally alcoholic; vastly superior pubs are over the road but I suppose the desperate can't go without for this period.
Actually it's not *that* bad. A simple clean place with a friendly barmaid, GK IPA, London Glory and Timothy Taylor's Landlord, decently kept though price unknown as it wasn't my round.
This place may be fine in Saudi Arabia, but if your imagination - and desperation - extend no further than these catacombs, make an appointment with your local GP!

Roger Button left this review about The Trout

This is about as plastic and contrived as such pubs go. Plonked in the middle of a shopping mall, it has always been a place to steer clear of and apart from a curiosity visist when it first opened, I have always done just that. It recently grabbed my attention as it has recently gained Cask Marquee accreditation so thought I would give it a go this week during a pre-Apollo session. On the Plus side, the beer was indeed pretty decent quality however the excitement is somewhat diminished by the fact that the Ales are the ubiquitous Green King IPA and Abbott. The interior is hardly a wonder of architecture and generally reeks of burgers as you first walk in. It is akin to an airport bar with little soul or character and about as appealing as drinking a tin of Fosters outside the Tesco's opposite. The usual run of plasma TV / games / Quiz machines are present and the customer base is sourced from shoppers too knackered to walk any further, office workers with a lack of adventure or Apollo goers falling out of the tube station and with no idea of anywhere else to go in the area. Chances of getting a seat are practically zero whilst the shops are open and once they are closed and the show at the Apollo has started, there seems little point of being here at all unless you are a Green King fan. That said, it is certainly not as unpleasant as the rating suggests although it is hardly a place to carry any particularly recommendation.

Steve C left this review about The Trout

When I used to work in Hammersmith I used to drink in the Old Trout, when it was still known by that name, most lunchtimes. It was handy for popping into the shops and then having a couple of pints before going back to work.

I went in for a pint last Thursday, my first here in over 6 years, whilst I waited for someone getting off at the tube station and I was not impressed at all.

It used to be a place people actually went to for a few beers, now I'd be surprised if anyone stayed for a second pint.

No atmosphere whatsoever – Thoroughly depressing establishment.
