Blue Scrumpy left this review about Royal Oak

Peak District pub in prime walking territory. A former railway, now a pathway, passes right by, giving the pub a regular stream of customers both drinkers and diners.

Food appears to be a focus. We were greeted on arrival and with most other customers eating, we were expected to ask for a table. However, we became two of only 4 drinkers in the bar area. Sharp's Doom Bar is the regular beer here, whilst guests were Bradfield Farmer's Brown & Thornbridge Brother Rabbit. The interior is quite cosy with a number of different corners to hide away. Views from the rear of the building are impressive.

Restaurant type pub in the main room with some real ale on. There was a nice open fire in the room to the left as you entered from the side.

Two separate areas either side of the central bar in a much-modernised pub. Concentrating on food but has several good ales on offer, including some from the nearby Hartington brewery. A little pricey.

This pub was different inside to what it looked like outside.
There was a modern looking entrance at the back of the pub which did'nt look right you then had to go up some steps to get to the main bar area this was done out in a modern style the one saving grace for this pub was the beers on the bar i had a drink of Whim Hartington Bitter which was very nice the other beers were Thornbridge Wild Swan and Pedigree.
