Will Larter left this review about Moulders Arms
A very old cottage pub in the older part of Riddings village near the church, the rarity of a thatched roof in these parts being emphasised by the fact that the nickname The Thack has stuck. The layout of small rooms is quite possibly not original, but at least there has been no concession to the modern trend for removing all the internal walls. The small bar divides its attention between the two front rooms, with two hand pumps on each part of the bar. Both the beers on at the time of my visit were from Burton Bridge: the very good Bitter and the (untried on this occasion) Stairway to Heaven. A display of former pump clips near the bar indicates a large range of previous guest beers from many different breweries.
I liked it a lot here, the only downside for me being the local radio station playing in the background, but even that was less objectionable than some radio programmes I've heard in pubs recently. (Still loses a mark by my reckoning though, sorry.) With the large car park here, and the small rooms, I imagine a lot of the drinking is done outside the pub in summer. I was tempted to stay for another, but somehow managed to persuade myself out into the pouring rain; will have to see if I can get back here when the weather's more favourable.
