Old Boots left this review about The George

Has moved more to being a carvery, only open Thursdays to Sundays.

2010
Looking like an overgrown nineteen-thirties house, this pub and restaurant was closed for some time before being renovated and reopened. The inside is also a bit like a house with bookcases and paintings and prints complimenting the light coloured dining furniture. A double fronted building there are dining rooms and bar counters both sides although to the right is more of a drinking area. The main bar counter runs down the side of a corridor like room with the dining area leading off of that. Four handpumps here with local beers from Black Sheep, Daleside and Hambleton in reasonable condition. A couple of T Bars hold the familiar Guinness, Strongbow, John Smith Smooth line up with Carlsberg and 1664. Following the corridor out through another small dining area and a service corridor to the rear leads out to a patio area.
