Previously The Globe, this grand Victorian pub has become a dreadful student bar inhabited by rowdy, opinionated morons served by a bar-thing of indeterminate sex and species, wearing a baseball cap and referring to everyone as 'mate'. There was a DJ booth and a pool table, the latter serving as a cross between a coat rail and a copulation platform, the former made redundant by the overloud, dire muzak. The bar is divided into two main areas and a couple of small wood-walled snugs, the overall effect reminding me of the brothel in Pompei (as opposed to a pub in Pompey). Quiz and raffles nights are held on a regular basis to help the clientele increase their student debts. Two ales on, Otter and Doombar, both in poor condition. Indeed the Otter was so bad I couldn't finish it, while the Doombar was a chore. This fox needs culling.
