Stumbled across this place in the height of the pandemic when closed and thought what a lovely place it looked.

Lived up to expectations and also a Good Beer Guide 2022 entry. Ancient building/bar with a separate restaurant. We were booked there but decided to eat in an equally lovely beer garden.

Bathams is a permanent feature that I was not going to turn down. Food was good value. Service was friendly.

Nice old pub as described by OT below. Lots of outdoor seating, some with gazebos, making a pleasant spot to enjoy their delicious Batham's BB. Other options include HPA and Prescott's Hill climb - but most of the younger drinkers were on Bathams, the older ones on cider, which the pub majors on. There is a keg-only outside bar too.

COVID regs present and correct, though some of the locals had difficulty observing them on a busy Sunday afternoon.

Worth a visit, especially if you're fond of Batham's.

Old half timbered pub in a nice little village way off the beaten track , there is a small modern extension at the back housing the toilets and kitchen .
The main entrance is at the back down a corridor which leads to the main bar , to the right is a cosy snug area with leather sofas , to the left is a small dining area with a narrow passage running behind the bar to another small dining area , the bar was once to rooms , you have to step through the remains of a beamed wall to get from one end to the other , duck if your over six foot but watch your feet the bottom beam is still there about six inches high , the floor is stone flagged and a bit uneven to the right is a patio door leading to a small beer garden , a large TV is on the adjacent wall showing cricket with the sound down .
Upstairs is a games room with pool , darts and dominos .
Service was friendly and the locals a chatty bunch , usual keg taps and four real ales , two from Marstons/Banks plus Woods Beauty and a very good Wye Valley HPA , overall a good country pub worth a visit .
