In normal times this is, of course, one of those "must visits" if you are looking round the Camra historic interiors catalogue. But thanks to Covid the interior is out of bounds - I guess they couldn't fit more than a dozen people in safely - so proceedings are conducted from a trestle table outside the front door. Thus we enjoyed a some very pleasant Butcombe Original. Do note it's cash only, I had to press my emergency tenner into service.

It would be inappropriate to score this one until we can make a proper visit in less troubled times.

We were lucky enough to visit the beer festival this time around, and it was worth waiting for. There were some excellent ales available, several morris dancers enlivened the proceedings, a merry time was had by all. Not to be missed.

What a find, a traditional pub with bags of character. I should imagine the fixtures and fittings have been there for decades, but in my opinion it adds to the charm. My fellow companions and I, were hoping to attend the beer festival, but we missed it by a week, a pity as it looks like an interesting place.

This is a very old pub (15th century )and is in the 2012 Good Beer Guide. There are 3 rooms, a small snug, a family room and lounge. The bar area is a serving hatch with the main bar area being in the larger back room. There were 5 ales available and no food. Butcombe and Hobson bitter are usually on along with guests. It is like going into a time warp and there is a lot of character to the pub which is in the National Inventory for Historic Pub Interoors. Much as I like going to this one, I do feel that a spring clean now and then would be beneficial.
The above was October 2011 and nothing changed when we called yesterday apart from the available beers. Guests were from Northumberland, Bewdley and Morgan's (Dow Bridge). Not in the best condition, but the pub is still worth the visit.

Excellent pub. Old bar not to be missed with it's small serving hatch bar.
Some excellent local real ales. Dogs welcome.
