Looks upmarket outside, inside through is a fairly basic alehouse affair with wood fittings and flooring. The front balcony had a nice light view over the square but sadly on a grey day the pub’s interior lights remained resolutely off, creating a gloomy atmosphere. It is also a quiet pub though sometimes that isn’t necessarily a good thing which was true of my mid-afternoon weekday visit, the quiet and the gloom were particularly gnawing. A GBG entry, five ales were on which seemed ambitious; Stonhenge Pigswill, Youngs Ordinary, Waddies 6X, Flying Monk Habit and a tepid Ramsbury Farmer's Best (NBSS 2.5) - I was the only ale drinker and it showed. Didn’t feel the need to hang around for a second as no other beers got pulled so I headed on my way. Maybe I caught it at a bad time, but…

Much to admire in this GBG 2020 entry.... detailed as a Bar Restaurant.

Separate restaurant to drinking area
Drinking area has a proper old school feel to it
Wooden partitions, large glass windows to watch the world go by
five hand pulls on - all around £3.30
Ramsbury Farmers Best an unusual pint - perfect condition.
Perfectly positioned between the Abbey and the Market Square.

A traditional town pub which also does good food, right in the middle of town by the Market Place. The wooden floors and huge glass windows make you feel like you're in a barn, but both the food and beer are very good. This was my second visit, and the Archers was every bit as good as first time around. There were 2 other ales on, but I didn't have time to try them. Seems like a very suitbale pub for a lunchtime meal or drink.
