The landlady was very welcoming on our visit and their beer was in good condition. There were four ales on handpump, TT Landlord, Purity UBU, Salopian Shropshire Gold and Salopian Lemon Dream. I went for the Purity which was one of the best pints of UBU in a long time, so obviously they know how to look after cask ale. The only downside for me was the lack of natural light on such a sunny day. The interior reminded me of a Working Man's club, or something along those lines.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Vaults

Unpromising-looking venue that looks closed until you see the times on the 'Unlocked' sign on the door. On closer inspection, the façade has been repainted fairly recently, and the interior is tidy enough too. Mix of semi-traditional furniture in the various small seating areas, with decor including some stuffed fish in trophy display units. Six handpumps on the counter, dispensing Landlord, Sharp's Atlantic, Purity Pure UBU, Salopian Shropshire Gold, Butty Bach and Old Rosie cider.

I liked this place. Doesn't look that much from the outside but a good selection of ales. The locals were friendly as were the staff. Enjoyed my visit.

Rather cliquey cellar bar that does serve real ale. Its ok, worth popping in for a drink

You enter via a white upvc front door but the frontage itself has no windows and it felt like going into a bar where you would need a good supply of £1 coins. However this is a long established real ale haunt, which extends back beyond the bar but does feel gloomy due to the lack of natural light. There was a good crowd of regulars in ,mainly blokes while all the bar staff were wearing matching polo shirts with some slogan about inebriation on the back.
There are four regular ales,Tetley Gold,Doom Bar,St Austell Tribute and Adnams Lighthouse which all seemed a little dull and predictable,so we were banking on the two guests to deliver some interest.Sadly Goffs Jouster and Abbeydale Brimstone just carried on the theme of low ABV,boring brown beer .So this turned out to be a brief one pint stop.Clearly the regulars are happy with the ale choice, samples are given and there is nothing wrong with the condition of what we ordered, but despite being in the GBG for the last 21 years,I can see little reason to return if this is a typical ale line up.
