Prominently located next to the bridge, the only proper riverside drinking area in the town is guaranteed to draw in the punters, plastic glasses and all. However if you enter at the upper level, you will find a much more civilised pub, with a very nice bar and restaurant area. Food not sampled, but looked good. Beer is Braks, of course.

Visited the Angel on a sunny Friday Afternoon and although busy service was good. Breakspears Bitter was well kept, but if you want to drink outside all drinks are served in plastic glasses, which I could just about accept due to the pubs excellent location. Did not try the food but the portions looked large & I will be back to try the fish & Chips

Keep this brief...

The plus points:
-Lovely location right on the Thames and a waterside drinking area
-A decent pint of Brakspear Bitter and Special
-Interior is quite quaint

The minus points:
-Expensive...£3.30 a pint
-Plastic glasses
-Annoying Hooray Henley-esque punters can often predominate

Perhaps worth a pint of a sunny afternoon if not crowded but otherwise I'd rather take in the view from the bridge and move on.

Our last stop of the evening before catching the train back to the lovely metropolis which is Slough. Obviously a goldmine. The patio bar was open and had Brakspears Bitter on handpull. Not the best pint of the night but still drinkable, even with the plastic glasses (no Imperial pint measurements on them. Are these legal ?). This was the most expensive pint of the night. We sat on the wooden patio over the water which finished off the evening nicely. If it wasn't for the location then we wouldn't be impressed. However the location allows you to forgive the price, the plastic glasses and the so so beer at least for 30 minutes before moving on.
