. Wittenden left this review about The Arkle Manor

A large 1930s style roadhouse in a prominent position on the A25 between Reigate and Dorking, overlooking Brockham Big Field. Described on its website as a “Country Pub and Eating House”, I would dispute the first term. As an “Eating House”, it provides a slick if somewhat soulless operation: rather small helpings of curiously presented meals. However, the “team” were attentive and friendly on our visit on a cold January Sunday lunchtime.
As we were there for a family birthday, beer was perhaps not at the forefront of our minds, but unfortunately, what choice there was , was particularly dull- an off-form London Pride, and a serviceable but uninspiring Sharp’s Doom Bar. There was a plethora of fizzy fonts: most of those drinking beer were making use of these.
In fairness, this isn’t my type of pub: it must be doing something right, as the car park is always busy on our frequent trips past.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Arkle Manor

Used to be the sort of drab roadside establishment that one just continued to drive past, but the exterior and (especially) interior have been given a thorough makeover. I'm not sure that modern leather and polished wood decor is quite my sort of thing, but there is probably a good market for it in this part of leafy Surrey. Apart from that, it had Timothy Taylor Landlord on, but I suspect that they don't through much real ale here.
