Will Larter left this review about Railway Inn

This pub is typical of the back street real ale pubs of the 90s and 00s, and still retains some popularity amongst locals despite being no longer a destination pub. Just two beers on at the time of our visit: Timothy Taylor Landlord and Wye Valley Butty Bach, though usually there is Bass as well, its absence testifying to the supply problems that have beset this beer in recent months. The Landlord was in decent nick, but I couldn't help comparing this pub to the Titanic, Joules and Black Country Ales pubs we'd been drinking in before this one's 4:30pm opening time and wondering how many years more it is likely to survive.

Soup Dragon left this review about Railway Inn

A cream rendered corner pub with patio with Georgian look.

The interior is open plan, though with two areas, in an L-shape around the bar. To the right on entry is the lounge area, which is in white with red leather seats. To the left, is a two part bar area going past the serving bar. The decor here is white and wood panel. There is a dart board and a TV, which wasn't on at my visit. There are, not surprisingly, lots of railway pictures on the walls. The service was fine and the clientele just a couple of locals. There was no music on either.

Beer; tap stuff with Abbot Ale, Bass, London Pride and Young's Special on handpull. The Bass was fine.

This is a great little back street boozer, the only downside for me is the choice of beers that they had on, as it wasn't to my taste. It has been a few years since my last visit and i enjoyed my return. Always wort popping in when in Stafford.

Having heard that this pub had been re-vamped since my last visit I thought I'd give it another go. The new owners have changed the character a little and there are more beers on. Still many of the same faces, and it remains a reasonable back-street boozer, worth popping in to while waiting for a train. The TV spoils it a bit for me, but each to his own. I had a decent pint of Bass and would be happy to pop in again.
