The Royal Oak is now under community ownership after locals bought shares in it as part of the Heart of the Village project.

A family run village pub which is currently under threat due to falling sales. There is a car park and a small paved garden. Inside, there are two bars, a large carpeted one which was once the main dining room, but they have stopped doing food due to lack of demand. The second, smaller bar is also carpeted and has comfortable seating. There is also a large skittle alley which serves as a function room and a ‘grown-ups’ play area’ with a pool table. The landlady was very welcoming, very happy to see the dogs. Ales on were Cotleigh Tawny, Bishop Nick’s Ridley’s Rite and Cotleigh IPA, all in excellent condition. Well worth a visit and good to tie in with a walk around the levels. It’s on the 2018 Somerset Ale Trail.

One of two pubs in a rather spread out village a bit off the beaten track between Langport and Taunton. Quite a large pub with two bar areas, a restaurant, function room and pool table area, with outside seating as well. Very quiet when we visited there was only one beer available - Otter Amber. St Austall Proper Job wasn't on. There was Westons scrumpy (which was clear) on a separte handpull. As a village local it is fine but I wouldn't push myself to go back as it is hard to get to.
