Roadside inn providing a welcome stop on a journey through the Somerset Levels. There is a decent sized car park leading to the main door into the pub and fronted by what appear to be holiday chalets. Inside, there is a single large open-plan bar with a novel central fire pit; judging by the beam above it and the step in floor level, this indicates where the original internal wall was. The lower level houses the majority of the bar counter and a pool table, a small tv, a gaming machine and has a second fireplace. The upper level has a TV screen and more seating. There is a strong family feel to the pub, though the welcome offered to us was genuinely warm. There is a function room and skittle alley. Four hand pumps on the bar, one was dry, the others dispensed Doombar, Butcombe's Original and Teignworthy's Neap Tide. The beer wasn't brilliant but it was drinkable and remarkably well-priced, while the food was good, basic and home cooked. There was bland music emanating from the jukebox, not loud enough to be annoying. There was a faint whiff of vomit in the air at our table, again enough to be noticeable but not so bad as to be nauseating. A good pitstop where you can get a light meal and a pint for just a few quid.

Good village pub, clean, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Ales well kept (Downton Brewery's Crop Circle and Quadhop on my visit). Didn't try the food but appears to be typical pub grub. Above average.
