A pretty average sort of Spoons, although the beer selection was reasonable. One minor triumph - there was a vertical queue at the bar when I came in, which I naturally swerved, maintaining the moral high ground by deferring to someone in the aforementioned to be served first, at which point it collapsed and more normal purchasing behaviour was restored! It looked as though it was starting to rebuild when I left though - why on earth would you stand BEHIND someone at an empty bar?

This is a large but rather nondescript Wetherspoons pub on Streatham’s self-proclaimed ‘longest High Street in the UK’ which has been somewhat overshadowed by the neighbouring Antic pub which is set in a much more interesting building. It’s a split-level pub with a raised seating area to the front and a lower bar space to the rear. The seating area is carpeted and broken up by a series of pillars through the centre of the room plus some etched glass partitioned booths along the right-hand wall. The rest of the seating comes mainly in the form of regular tables and chairs and the walls are predominantly half-panelled although there is a bare brick section over to the left with a couple of beer fridges which appear to be there more for display purposes rather than practical use. Unusually, a few rural paintings line the walls alongside some more appropriate local black and white photos and ‘Spoons info boards. The servery is in the rear left corner with a roughly L-shaped counter and back-lit modern bar back. Down here, there are mainly high tables and stools to perch on and TV screens were showing muted news coverage. A beer garden can be accessed through a door to the rear, although I didn’t get around to having a proper look. The pub was busy on a Saturday evening without being uncomfortably so, and I was able to grab a table with relative ease.
Six of the handpulls were taken up by ‘Spoons regulars (three beers doubled up), whilst two more had ‘Coming Soon’ clips, leaving room for four guest ales. I tried something called Reunion Single Double Hop which was available as part of the London Beer Festival the pub was participating in. It was a pretty good pint but the barman who served me literally could not be less interested in what he was doing if he tried.
I found this a solid but ultimately underwhelming ‘Spoons experience which reminded me of plenty of other such visits to this chain’s outlets across South London. I have no real objections to this place, but faced with a straight choice between drinking here or in the Antic pub next door, I would happily pay a bit more and drink in the more pleasant surrounds of the Antic venue.

A decent enough Wetherspoon pub but too many beers coming soon for my liking.Nice to see an outside area at the rear.Tried the latest American collab from Bells /Wadsworth which was in good condition but rather dull.

Holland Tringham, who he? Apparently he was an artist (no, not someone who downs pint after pint of Abbot Reserve!) who did sketches of Streatham Village some of which can be seen on the walls here.

As noted below this place has an odd layout with a typical shop conversion style of room as you enter followed by some steps leading to the smaller area where the bar is plus what seemed to be a proper garden, if I could only have got a decent view of it through the pouring rain. It's hard to say what the original use of this building was.

The meat Raffle advertised at the bar is something I haven't seen in decades.

There are twelve pumps but they were not used to their full potential as there were four devoted to the two GK regulars, one unused, two beers and one cider available soon, Reigate Pilgrim's Progress, Ascot Posh Pooch, a cider and Burton Bridge Battle Of Burton Bridge.

I went for the Burton Bridge (£2.15) which wasn't clear but tasted OK.

The Holland Tringham is pretty much a standard Wetherspoons except that there are some steps in the centre of the pub that lead down to the bar at the rear. Seating faces the bar and at street level at the front of the pub there is more seating. Booths are found along the right hand wall and there is a beer garden full of bushes out the back.
I counted twelve hand pumps that were drawing a mix of guest and the usual Spoons’ beers although three hand pumps were tagged ‘available soon’. Cheap food is available and I found the staff to be efficient.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit here again.

This is a standard ‘spoons high street conversion. The bar counter is at the far end of the room, which is divided by a few steps down surrounded by some pine coloured balustrade. There are a few booths on the right, but otherwise it’s just like every other Wetherspoons that you’ve been in. It did have a “kid’s corner”, where the kids’ doodlings were pinned on the wall. Not a pub to seek out by any means, but, like all ‘spoons, it provides decent drink at reasonable prices.

A fairly standard issue Wetherspoons, looks like a shop conversion, but unusually on two levels with the main bar area being down a flight of some seven steps from the entrance level. There is thankfully a platform lift for the benefit of disabled customers. The usual range of seating with some high tables, but also a series of small booth-like compartments along the side wall. Twelve handpumps but as well as the usual staples a fair number "coming soon" so just the three guest ales. My pint of Elgood's Golden Newt was spot on. The pub was showing the FA Cup final with the volume up and was pretty busy as a result.
Holland Tringham was a Victorian artist and illustrator who lived in Streatham for a while. A number of prints of his work are displayed in the pub including a drawing of the nearby Greyhound pub when it was a Barclay Perkins house.
The pub has an unusually attractive (for a 'spoons that is) rear secluded garden. Also unusual I thought is that the pub has a weekly meat raffle, something I haven't seen for a good while.

A descent sized Wetherspoon's on two levels and is quite bright compared to some of their pubs. A fair selection of real ales and a small outside seating out the back.
